A PSA Birth Certificate is one of the requirements needed if you are planning to work abroad. It is an official document that includes your identity, such as your name, date and time of birth, gender, and your parents’ name.
As times change, our government was able to adapt and provide a more convenient option to get official documents with the use of our phones or computer. Gone are days that we have to spend a day out of our jobs, waiting in lines in government offices, just to get a specific document.
In this article, we will guide you on how to get a Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) certified Birth Certificate online.
STEP 1: Visit www.PSAHelpline.ph and click the green “ORDER NOW” button on the screen.STEP 2: This button will lead you to the next page where you can choose the type of certificate you need. For Birth Certificate requests, click the “Birth” button.
Read through and check the box if you agree and accept the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. Then click the green “Continue” button to proceed to the next step.
STEP 3: On the next page, you will be asked if you are requesting your own birth certificate or if it’s for someone else. Choose one and click the green “Continue” button.
STEP 4: A page will show you a list of information that you will need to fill out in the next couple of pages. Take note of this information then click “Continue”.
STEP 5: You will then need to fill out a series of pages with your personal information like your complete name, civil status, gender, birthday, and the type of government issued-ID that you will use for verification upon the delivery of the certificate.
Complete all the required information on every page, then Click “continue” to proceed until pages numbers 1 to 9 are green.
A few important reminders when filling out the form to avoid delays in the issuance:
- Make sure that your name is spelled correctly as it appears on your birth certificate.
- If you’re married, make sure that you input your maiden name.
- When asked to fill out the names of your parents, make sure to input your mother’s maiden name.
STEP 6: You need to confirm if the birth certificate was registered on time. If it was registered late, you will need to include the registration date on the form. Note that if it’s late, the certificate may not yet be available and that there’s a chance that you will receive a Certificate of Negative Intact if you continue. A “Certificate of Negative Intact” means either one of the following: Your birth record exists, but probably due to the late registration, the local civil registrar (LCR) where your birth was registered has not yet forwarded your records to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). Or, in some cases, hospital attendants or midwives fail to register the birth within 30 days, thus, no record can be retrieved. You may inquire directly from the civil registrar about the best option for your case to proceed.
STEP 7: On this page, you need to select the purpose of your request. If you are requesting this document for your overseas application, click “Foreign Employment” and indicate the country where you are applying. Click “Continue” to proceed to Page 8. STEP 8: Next, indicate if there were any legal proceedings previously done concerning your name. This is to ensure that the copy you receive contains the remarks or annotation. These legal proceedings include Legitimation, Adoption, Court Hearings, Supplemental, Correction of Entry, and Paternal Acknowledgement.
STEP 9: Fill out your delivery address and contact information on Page 9. Make sure to use an address where you will be able to personally receive the documents and present the government issued-ID you selected in Step 5. The couriers are instructed not to release the document to anyone other than yourself, even with an authorization letter.
Fill out all the delivery details and click “Continue” to proceed to the summary of the Certificate of Live Birth. Review all the details to ensure all the information are correct.
At the bottom of the page, you have the option to choose the number of copies you need. Choose from the drop-down menu, then tick the box “ I confirm”.
PSA Helpline will then issue a reference number, which you will use when you pay through the payment options available. You can also use this to track the status of your request.
