The Saudi Arabia E-Visa is first introduced in 2019 when the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia formally announced the Saudi 2030 Vision. A government effort that allows entry for tourists to enter the kingdom, with the aim to boost and diversify the country’s tourism and economy.
There are two ways to apply for a tourist visa. One is through Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism online facilitated website or you can also go to an Embassy or Consulate. In this article, we will guide you through the step-by-step process of the E-Visa Application Online.
Who Can Apply for a Saudi Arabia E-Visa:
Anyone can apply and visit Saudi Arabia, however, currently, the E-Visa application is open for nationals and passport holders of 49 selected countries.
The list of the countries eligible is as follows:

Switzerland | Ukraine | United Kingdom |
United States | Holders of Schengen, US or UK Visas |
If you are not a citizen of these countries, your option is to personally apply at a Saudi Arabia Embassy or Consulate.
Citizens of the following countries are excepted from the visa requirements: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and United Arab Emirates. If you are a national from these four countries, you just need to present a valid ID. You are allowed visa-free access as per the region agreement and visa policy.
Requirements for E-Visa Application for Eligible Countries:
- Standard Digital ID Photo
- White background
- Face fully visible, head facing straight, and no shadows.
- The applicant should wear a collared shirt or business attire
- Hair neatly tied, both ears and eyebrows visible, and no colored contact lenses
- The file must be in jpeg format
- Should be at least 200px x 200px in size.
- Passport Copy
- A clear digital copy of the passport is required with at least 6 months validity, and 2 clean pages inside the passport.
- Travel and Accommodation Details
- Airline tickets and confirmed hotel accommodations are not required during the E-Visa application, applicants have the option to input tentative travel plans in the application.
- You will also be required to answer a few security-related questions during the application.
How much is the E-Visa Application:
The tourist visa application fee currently costs around SAR 300, while the obligatory basic medical insurance fee is SAR 180.00. You will also need to pay VAT + online transaction fee.
How to Apply for a Saudi Arabia E-Visa Online:
STEP 1: Visit www.visa.visitsaudi.com for the Saudi E-Visa Portal and click on the “Apply Now” button.
STEP 2: Sign in to your e-via account or create a new one by filling out your passport type and nationality on the first page.
STEP 3: Complete the registration form and activate your account via email.
STEP 4: Once your account is activated, you will be asked to log in to proceed with your E-Visa application.
STEP 5: You need to complete all the required information in a series of pages to complete the Visa application form, then proceed with the payment.
You will then receive an automatic email verifying that your application has been successfully submitted, and it will be validated by the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Foreign Affairs for E-Visa issuance. It only usually takes about 30 minutes in most cases, so, all you have to do now is to wait for the copy of your E-Visa via email. Print it out along with the other documents necessary and use it to enter the country within 90 days.
Note that immigration officers will verify your documents upon passport check before you are allowed to enter the country. Make sure that all information provided are correct to avoid unnecessary issues upon entry.
